A woman’s video on X has sparked discussion online after she shared what she eats in a day as part of her body positivity content. She described herself as a “fat girl” in the video while showing what she ate from breakfast through lunch.

Besides offering a sneak peek into her choice of foods on an average day, a considerable portion of the video showed her and her partner waiting 45 minutes at a restaurant for their orders. She appeared to be making content as a food reviewer, which gives more context to the video. So, let’s take a look at what her daily diet looks like.

To start off the day, and the video, the first thing she ate was a heavily-glazed sweet pastry treat. It was a considerably big bun, so she basically began her day with a sugar rush. But that wasn't all. After devouring the bun, she said, "Breakfast today is Goldfish and a Cookie-Butter Latte."

That consisted of an entire pack of Goldfish crackers and a cold, creamy latte with whipped cream and cookie-crumbles as the toppings. Then she continued, "We're heading to church, so we're probably just gonna eat afterwards. So we're keeping it small."

Some commenters questioned whether the foods shown in the video were consistent with a healthy diet.

One X user wrote, "There are more calories in that latte than anyone needs in a day. Blame the left that told everyone that they couldn't tell people that they were obese. That is flat out unhealthy and everyone pays for it."

Another commenter questioned the impact of body positivity, "Obesity is dangerously unhealthy, it's not an "identity" or "personality," but it's an easy choice for lazy people with no self-respect or self-control."

Woman’s Video Sparks Debate Over Body Positivity and Diet

According to a report on the true definition of body positivity from Verywell Mind, it centers on appreciating one's body despite its imperfections, feeling confident about your body type, accepting and loving your body's shape and size, and challenging society's beauty standards.

However, there are studies that link the body positivity movement to obesity and an excuse for an unhealthy lifestyle. Another scientific study from IntechOpen says that fat acceptance and body positivity were initially intended to benefit individuals such as cancer survivors who have been physically disfigured, persons with disabilities, and people belonging to ethnic groups often ignored by the media.

But, as of recent, it has taken on a new meaning, where it has given obese and overweight people a sense of entitlement and comfort with their bodies, even when measures can be taken to enact positive change, such as proper diet and exercise.

After finishing her latte, the video cuts to a scene where she's in a restaurant with her partner, who is also an overweight woman, as they order food. She mentioned that they've been waiting for 45 minutes, and she's having a diet coke to pass the time.

She was eventually served a side of hush-puppies with a dipping sauce, which she said she had to remind the waiter to get. Then she said, "All I've had today was a Eucharist, and I'm getting a little bit angry!" It seems she forgot about the cinnamon bun, Goldfish crackers, and large latte that she had for breakfast.

Shortly after, she was served a salad, which she drizzled with dressing. After that, she received a sandwich which she ate after she left the restaurant because the waiter got her partner's order wrong.

Another X commenter wrote, "“Body positivity lost tha’ plot. Woman filmin’ herself smashin’ a face-sized cinnamon roll and callin’ it empowerment while obesity is tha’ second-leading preventable killer.”

The Daily Dot was unable to independently verify the woman's health history or dietary habits beyond what was shown in the video. The reactions described above reflect individual commenters' opinions.
